The Joy of Creating

We're happy to report that scholarship funds are available for tuition assistance for the 2009-2010 school year. Scholarships are made available by individual donations, memorial funds, and grants from local foundations and may fluctuate throughout the year.

Some history:

2008-2009 We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the family and friends of Marilyn Beffort, for their generous contributions to the Art Center in her memory. These funds have increased our scholarship and outreach program, allowing us to extend our programs into the lives of families who would not otherwise be able to affort tuition.

We also owe a huge thank-you to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, for awarding us a recent scholarship grant. Each year the Sisters contribute thousands of dollars directly to organizations that serve the SF community.

Late in 1998, a generous SFCAC family established a scholarship program for on-site classes. Their goal was to help make participation in the program at Fort Mason a possibility for families who aren't a part of SFCAC's outreach program and for whom regular tuition may be a bit of a stretch. In the first year, close to ten new families were able to attend classes at the Art Center on partial scholarships thanks to the generosity of this family. Their thoughtful gesture also inspired the Art Center to permanently establish and solicit funding for an ongoing scholarship fund for on-site classes.

Recently, the Eugene & Rose Kleiner Family Foundation helped expand this scholarship program four-fold. Renamed the Raphael Bouganim Memorial Scholarship, in honor of a beloved artist, musician and father with ties to the Art Center, the fund will provide partial to full tuition assistance for a minimum of 5% the Art Center's total enrollees in the coming year.
