Teaching Artist

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Teaching Artist will be responsible for teaching 8 week residencies on a part-time basis at San Franciso preschools.

SCHEDULE/HOURS
This is a part-time position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead 8 week visual arts residencies in San Francisco preschools throughout the 2009-2010 academic year.
Train in SFCAC methodology.
Attend monthly staff meetings and periodic professional development workshops.

COMPENSATION
$40-$60 per hour of classroom instruction depending on experience. Work would begin in September and go through June of next school year.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 2 years teaching artist experience with preschool students.
A demonstrated commitment to, and enjoyment of, working with young children.
Flexibility and willingness to learn SFCAC's methodology.
Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
Experience working with English Language Learners and special education populations.
B.A. or equivalent experience in visual arts and/or early childhood education.
Bilingual English/Cantonese or English/Mandarin preferred.

Art Party Teacher

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Art Party Teacher will be responsible for assisting with Art Birthday Parties on Sundays on an as-needed basis.

SCHEDULE/HOURS
This is an on-call position. Sundays 10:45-1:15 (2 ½ hrs.) and/or 1:45-4:15 (2 ½ hrs.)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work as a team with other art teacher(s).
Assist with classroom preparation and cleanup.
Coordinate and plan party project(s). Projects include Printmaking, Painting, Playdough, Collage, Drawing, and more.
Work with children ages 3-10 and their parents.
Assist with party refreshments.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in education, art, early childhood education, or other related discipline.
Hands-on experience working with children and art-making.
Ability to remain calm and think clearly under pressure.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
CPR/first aid training desirable.
